
Central Islip, N.Y. - With March Madness just days away, fans of Division II college basketball will have a unique opportunity to view both the men's and women's northeast regional tournaments on line.
A partnership among the three northeast regional conferences - The East Coast Conference, the Northeast-10 Conference, and the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference - has been announced that will provide on line broadcasts of all regional games free of charge on a limited basis. Through the cooperation of PennAtlantic, all regional games will be available through the ECC.tv website and fans are encouraged to sign up early to register for the games.
One the women's side, Molloy College will be making its first appearance in the NCAA tournament after capturing their first ECC title this past Sunday over the University of New Haven. Head Coach Tim O'Hagan's Lady Lions are the eighth seed in the eight-team regional and will face top seed and regional host Holy Family Friday at 6:00 p.m.
Other first round games Friday, March 14th include No. 2 seed Stonehill vs. No. 7 Bryant at 1:00 p.m., No. 3 seed Franklin Pierce taking on No. 6 Dominican at 3:00 p.m. and No. 4 Bentley against No. 5 Assumption at 8:00 p.m.
The tournament continues Saturday, March 15 with second round action and concludes Monday, March 17th with the regional championship. The regional champion advances to the NCAA "Elite Eight" national quarterfinals to be held in Kearney, Nebraska.
On the men's side, the Pioneers of LIU/C.W. Post earned the fourth seed in the eight-team regional and will face No. 5 seed Bryant University Saturday, March 15 at 8:30 p.m. at the Dana Center on the campus of Bentley College, the regional's top seed and host.
C.W. Post earned the automatic bid to the tourney by virtue of this past Sunday's victory over Adelphi in the ECC title game, the first title for the Pioneers since 2004.
Along with the C.W. Post-Bryant tilt, first round matchups on Saturday include No. 3 Saint Rose against No. 6 Philadelphia at 12:00 p.m., No. 2 Assumption against No. 7 Holy Family at 2:30 p.m., and No. 1 Bentley facing No. 8 Merrimack at 6:00 p.m.
Winners move on to second round action Sunday, March 16 with
games at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The regional championship game is
slated for Tuesday, March 18th at 7:00 p.m. The regional
winner advances to the Division II "Elite Eight" which will be
played at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass.
