WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. --- Jonathan Schmidt of C.W. Post was named the 2007-08 All-Met Division II men's college basketball player of the year Friday by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Assn.

Tim Cluess of C.W. Post was selected coach of the year.

Joining Schmidt on the All-Met first team: Omari Knox, Bloomfield; Manny Perez, Caldwell; Vincent Falzone, Molloy; Richard Fields, Concordia; Sheanan Martinez, Nyack.

Named to the second team: Ryan Williams, Pace; Devon Young, Felician; David Seagers, Dowling; Bryant Lassiter, NYIT; B.J. Suchy, Caldwell.

A junior guard from Centereach, N.Y., Schmidt led the Panthers with 20.2 ppg (17th in the nation) and 161 assists, and had 5.6 rpg and 55 steals. He also was named East Coast Conference player of the year.

In his second year at the helm, Cluess guided the Panthers (26-5, 18-2 ECC) to both conference regular season and tournament titles, and a berth in the NCAA tournament. He also was ECC coach of the year.

The All-Met awards will be presented Thursday evening, April 17, at Giants Stadium Club in East Rutherford, N.J.
