ECC Announces 2009-2010 Commissioners Honor Roll
Central Islip, N.Y. - East Coast Conference Commissioner Robert Dranoff is proud to announce the list of 654 student-athletes who were named to the ECC Commissioner Honor Roll for the 2009-2010 academic year. The eight East Coast Conference institutions continue to raise the bar academically, increasing the number of student-athletes honored in previous years (617 in 2008-09; 613 in 2007-08).
“Congratulations to all those student-athletes who participated this past year in ECC athletics and to those who represent their institutions and the conference so well in the classroom, the community, as well as in their sport,” said Dranoff. “You do make a difference!”
C.W. Post led the way, placing 135 student-athletes on the Honor Roll while Dowling and Molloy followed close behind with 101 and 94 student-athletes, respectively. In addition, the three institutions claimed seven of the fourteen sport Scholar-Athletes of the Year awards including: Simona Bartkova (Sr., Women’s Basketball, Dowling), E.J. Dreyer (Sr., Women’s Basketball, Molloy), Kris Frick (Sr., Men’s Soccer, C.W. Post), Ryan Hupfer (So., Cross Country, Molloy), Diane Kobisuik (Women’s Tennis, Dowling), Kelly Scott (Sr., Volleyball, Dowling) and Kim Williams (Sr., Women’s Lacrosse, C.W. Post). Dreyer was also named the 2010 ECC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The Commissioner’s Honor Roll is awarded to student-athletes who receive a 3.25 GPA or better in a given academic year. This annual recognition, in addition to Scholar-Athlete awards, helps to uphold the East Coast Conferenence’s mission of promoting the total person and the ability to excel not only in the athletic arena but also in the classroom.
