Sparkill, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas Athletic Department held its 3rd annual Department BBQ on Sunday September 18th.  The BBQ was an opportunity for student-athletes, coaches, administrators, family and friends to reflect on the successes of the 2010-2011 seasons as well as spread support and raise enthusiasm for the upcoming sport seasons.

To kick off the event the Athletic Department acknowledged the academic and athletic achievements of their athletes from the previous year.  Awards were distributed including the ADA's Honor Roll, All Academic Awards, All Region plagues and more.  The 2010 women's cross country team as well as the 2011 men's golf team were recognized with special awards for their conference championship and regional championship.

In addition to the awards ceremony there was music, games, raffles, good food and fun.  Over one hundred and fifty athletes were in attendance as well as over one hundred parents.  Our Spartan athletes, families and administration took advantage of this event, helping out a non profit organization called Cell Phones for Soldiers.  Used cell phones were collected to be donated to the CPFS organization which will provide calling cards for our troops overseas.
