NYIT Athletics Headed to Cable TV Across Long Island

Old Westbury, N.Y. — NYIT Athletics is headed to television sets across Long Island.

Altice's Optimum Channel 20 will televise an NYIT Game of the Week on Wednesdays at 1 a.m. beginning next week.

The weekly 90-minute telecasts launch on Nov. 8 with an NYIT men's soccer team's match against St. Thomas Aquinas.

NYIT Athletics plans to rotate which sport is televised each week in order to showcase all of its programs.

The agreement to televise NYIT Athletics events Long Island-wide is in addition to Bears games being televised to the North Shore of Nassau County on Optimum Channel 20 and Verizon FiOS Channel 37 on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. via PATV. Viewers outside that geographic area can watch those games at patv.org/livestream.

NYIT Athletics debuted this past Sunday on PATV with a volleyball match against Daemen.

"We are excited for this new opportunity as we continue to grow the NYIT brand across Long Island," NIYT director of intercollegiate athletics and recreation Dan Vélez said. "This is an important step as we look to the next generation of students, student-athletes, fans and hopefully one day new alumni. The establishment of the Bears Sports Network two years ago along, with the creation of the ECC Network this past summer, have given us the ability to reach a brand new audience."
