University of the District of Columbia Men's and Women's Basketball Host Successful Think Pink Event
Washington, D.C. — The UDC men's and
women's basketball teams hosted "Think Pink" on Saturday, February
11th, to help raise money for various cancer research and awareness
charities. The entire UDC athletic department has helped raise
money this year, with all of the proceeds going to cancer awareness
foundations.
The men's and women's basketball teams hosted Dowling University
for the double-header "Think Pink" event on Saturday, February
11th. The Firebirds honored Breast Cancer Awareness by sporting
socks with pink breast cancer ribbons and both teams also wore pink
pre-game warm-up shirts. The coaches also showed their commitment
by wearing pink.
Through the help of staff and the UDC Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee, fans were able to make donations via purchases of pink
bracelets, basketballs, and cupcakes. Also, paper tribute
basketballs were signed or dedicated to a person who was affected
by breast cancer and then mounted on the main wall in the UDC
Gym.
In total, the event raised over $300, which will all go toward the
fight against cancer.
