Players of the Week
Thomas Stellwagen, Dowling (Jr., M,
Farmingville, N.Y. / Sachem HS) - Was dominant in the face-off
circle winning 80% of his draws (24-30), while picking up 8.0
ground balls per game in a 2-0 week. Was 14-17 on face offs
with nine groundballs against Seton Hill and went 10 for 13 on
draws with seven grounders against No. 10 Mercyhurst.
Edward Ege, Adelphi (Jr., A, Rockville Centre, N.Y.
/ Southside) - Led Adelphi to an 18-6 win over St. Michael's with a
game-high seven assists and added three goals and three ground
balls.

Dowling (Sr., GK, Farmingville, N.Y. / Centereach
HS) - In a 2-0 week, registered 23 saves with a 6.50 GAA. Made 10
saves (400th of career) in a 16-6 win over Seton Hill
and added 13 stops in a 10-7 victory over No. 10 Mercyhurst.
Rookie of the Week
Ryan Amengual,
NYIT (Fr., Attack, West Babylon, N.Y., West
Babylon) - Notched three goals and an assist in a 2-0 week. He
scored two goals and added an assist in a win over Molloy.
ECC Notebook
ECC: In this week's USILA Division II national top 10 poll, NYIT remains No. 2, C.W. Post moves up one spot to No. 3, Dowling remains No.5, Molloy dropped one spot to No.10 and Mercyhurst dropped out of the top 10 and is receiving votes.
NYIT: Sophomore Austin Carino netted nine goals and passed out an assist to lead #2 NYIT to a 2-0 week. Carino netted six goals and passed out an assist in the Bears 14-6 win over Seton Hill on Wednesday and he followed that with three goals in the Bears 22-6 win over Molloy on Saturday. Carino netted his three goals in the first and second quarters as NYIT built an 11-0 lead against Molloy. Junior Keith Henderson capped a nine goal and two assist week with four goals and an assist in the Bears win over Molloy on Saturday. Henderson scored three goals and passed out an assist in the Bears win over Seton hill on Wednesday. Henderson now leads the Bears with 31 goals and 34 points through six games. Freshman Ryan Amengual scored three goals and passed out an assist on the week, including two goals and one assist in the Bears win over Molloy.
Dowling: The Golden Lions had an impressive 2-0 week beating Seton Hill 16-6 and #10 Mercyhurst 10-7. Dowling was led by Junior Midfielder Thomas Stellwagen (Farmingville, NY / Sachem HS) who won 80% of his face-offs (24-30) and Sophomore Attackman Kyle O'Brien (Whitby, Onatrio / Trinity Pawling) who had a 10 point week (6G, 4A). First-Team All-American Ryan Campbell (Brampton, Ontario / Central Peel HS) returned to the lineup contributing a hat trick and adding an assist against Mercyhurst his first start of the year. Dowling has an off week, and then returns to action April 9th against Briarcliffe.
C.W. Post: The Pioneers won their only contest of the week with 16-4 drubbing of Wheeling Jesuit, to improve to 7-1 on the season and remain ranked fourth in the most recent USILA national poll. Junior Greg Cerar is the team's leading scorer with 27 goals and 14 assists, and sophomore Mike Cama has won 103-139 face-offs for a .741 percentage. C.W. Post will play at New York Institute of Technology on Mar. 29 at 1 p.m.
Adelphi: Adelphi is on a hot streak going into their conference schedule, having won their last three games and four of their last five. The Panther offense has come alive in the past three matches, scoring 50 goals, while the defense has given up just 21. Senior Edward Ege led Adelphi to an 18-6 win over St. Michael's on Friday March 21. Ege handed out a game-high seven assists and added three goals for his second straight 10+ point game. Sophomore Devin Schneiderbauer picked up his second win of the season in Adelphi's 18-6 victory over St. Michael's. Schneiderbauer made nine stops and allowed just four goals in 49 minutes of action. He also picked up three ground balls and handed out an assist.
Molloy: In their only game of the week, the
Lions fell to NYIT, 22-6 on March 22. Brian Tempone scored two
goals for Molloy, while Stanley Jackson, Vinny Galasso, Jeffrey
Flandina and Keith Galante all had one goal apiece. Rob
Humann made 17 saves in his 45 minutes of play in net for the
Lions.
Mercyhurst: The No. 10 Mercyhurst Laker men's
lacrosse team lost momentum in the second half and suffered a 10-7
loss Saturday to the No. 5 Dowling Golden Lions. The score was tied
at four going into the final two periods of play, but the Lions
scored four goals in the third period to pull ahead 8-6 and never
relinquished the lead. Offensively, Mike Thon scored three
goals in the contest off of nine shots. Tyler Burton and Trevor
Price each added one goal and one assist. Zach Manuel and Scott
Sullivan each tallied one goal and Matt Scherer contributed one
assist. Goalkeeper Jason LaShomb recorded 13 saves in the contest.
Mercyhurst falls to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the East Coast
Conference.
