Player of the Week

Austin Carino, NYIT (So., Attack, Huntington, N.Y. / Huntington) - Carino scored three goals including the game winner with 2:14 remaining in the fourth quarter to propel No. 2 NYIT to a 10-8 win over No. 3 C.W. Post. Carino's goal snapped an 8-8 tie.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Drew Smith, Adelphi (So., GK, East Hampton, N.Y. / East Hampton) - Smith made 21 saves helping Adelphi to a 10-9 ECC win over Molloy. He picked up one ground ball and made eight saves in the critical fourth quarter.

ECC Notebook

ECC: In this week's USILA Division II national top 10 poll (3/31), six of the seven ECC programs are in the national rankings. NYIT remains No. 2, C.W. Post dropped one spot to No. 4, Dowling remains No.5, Adelphi reenters the top 10 at No. 8, Mercyhurst moved up from receiving votes to No. 10, and Molloy dropped out of the top 10 and is receiving votes.

NYIT: Junior Kevin Hennessy scored three goals in the Bears win over CW Post on Saturday. Hennessy's third goal of the game with just over a minute remaining gave the Bears some breathing room and the 10-8 lead. Junior Matt Messina assisted on Austin Carino's game winning goal. Messina scored a goal and passed out two assists in the win. Junior Keith Henderson tallied a goal and two assists as well.  Carino scored three goals including the game winner with 2:14 remaining in the fourth quarter to propel #2 NYIT to a 10-8 win over #3 C.W. Post. Carino's goal snapped an 8-8 tie.

Dowling: The Golden Lions were off this week and return to action April, 9 in a non-conference contest against Briarcliffe.

Adelphi: Adelphi pushed their win streak to four games with a 10-9 win over Molloy on Saturday, March 29. Junior Edward Ege led the Panther attack with four goals and two assists in a 10-9 win over Molloy on Saturday, March 29. Ege also picked up two ground balls in helping Adelphi push their win streak to four games. Sophomore Drew Smith kept the Panthers in the game, making 21 saves in 60 minutes in goal, helping Adelphi to a 10-9 win. Smith picked up one ground ball and made eight saves in the critical fourth quarter.

Mercyhurst: The Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team held Dominican to one goal in the final 53 minutes of play as the Lakers got their first East Coast Conference win of the season with a 9-3 road victory Saturday. Mercyhurst battled back from an early 2-0 deficit and outscored Dominican 8-1 over the final three periods. Mercyhurst outshot Dominican 27-18 for the game and Laker goalie Jason LaShomb made five saves. The Lakers finished with nine more ground balls than Dominican and was 13-of-14 on clear opportunities. Mercyhurst improves to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in conference. The Lakers host ECC opponent Molloy Saturday at 1 p.m. for the team's home opener.

C.W. Post: The Pioneers suffered their second loss of the season at the hands of No. 2 NYIT.  The Pioneers held a 6-5 lead at the half.  Junior attacker Dave Loftus twice tied the game in the fourth quarter but the Bears scored two goals in the final two minutes to secure their seventh straight win of the season.  The Pioneers will host Adelphi University on Apr. 5. 

Molloy: The Lions went 0-2 for the week with a 13-6 loss to Southern New Hampshire on March 26 and a 10-9 loss to Adelphi.  Keith Galante had four goals and four assist, while Brian Tempone added five goals.
