Players of the Week

Ryan Campbell, Dowling (Sr., A, Brampton, Ontario / Central Peel HS) - Notched 15 points in a 2-0 week with 10 points (5g, 5a) against Briarcliffe and five points (3g, 2a) against Molloy. 

Matt Spahr, Mercyhurst (Jr., D, Media, Pa. / Penncrest) - Anchored a defense that posted a 3.0 GAA in a 2-0 week. Put forth pivotal defensive play in an 8-1 upset of No. 4 C.W. Post, holding the Pioneers' top scorer to just two shots, and added a career high six ground balls with two caused turnovers. Added two ground balls against Seton Hill.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Jason LaShomb, Mercyhurst (Jr., G, Rush, N.Y., Aquinas) - Recorded a career-high 17 saves and picked up two groundballs in the No.10 Lakers 8-1 upset of No.4 C.W.Post. He also secured the 13-5 win against Seton Hill with 4 saves in 30 minutes.

Rookie of the Week

Ryan Amengual, NYIT (Fr., A, West Babylon, N.Y. / West Babylon) - His only goal of the game was a pivotal one as it proved to be eventual game winner  in the Bears 12-11 win over Adelphi.

 ECC Notebook

ECC: In this week’s USILA Division II national top 10 poll (4/14), five of the seven ECC programs remain in the national rankings. NYIT remains No. 2, Dowling moves up one spot to No. 4, C.W. Post drops one position to No. 5, Mercyhurst jumps three spots to No. 7, and Adelphi stands at No. 8 … In last week’s all-important first NCAA (Central) Regional Poll, NYIT stood No. 1, Dowling was No. 2, C.W. Post was No. 3, Adelphi was No. 4 and Mercyhurst was No. 5.

Dowling: The Golden Lions had a 2-0 week, pushing their win streak to 7. On Wednesday, Dowling defeated Briarcliffe 17-3 and picked up their second conference win Saturday 10-7 against Molloy. Ryan Campbell had a huge week, collecting 15 points on 8 goals and 7 assists and fellow senior Nick Cotter had a 5 goal, 1 assist week, scoring the 100th of his career Saturday, becoming only the second midfielder in Golden Lions history to reach that milestone. Nick Tracey was solid between the pipes collecting both wins and registering 16 saves, 3 shy of breaking Dowling's all-time career record. The Golden Lions go on the road this week with a pair of ECC contests. Wednesday they travel to Dominican and Saturday will take on the #7 Panthers of Adelphi.

Mercyhurst: The No.10 Mercyhurst Lakers men's lacrosse team went 2-0 this week with a 13-5 win over Seton Hill Wednesday and an 8-1 upset of No.4 C.W.Post Saturday. On Wednesday, Mike Thon led the Lakers offensively with four goals and two assists for a season-high six points. The Mercyhurst defense held the Griffins scoreless in the second half to secure the win. Then on Saturday, the defensive pressure gave C.W. Post fits all day and the Pioneers were only able to complete 13-of-21 clear attempts. Junior defensemen Matt Spahr held C.W. Post's leading scorer, Greg Cerar, to no points and only two shots while the Lakers offense had six different players put up goals in the win. Goalkeeper Jason LaShomb recorded a career-high 17 saves and picked up two groundballs. LaShomb and the Mercyhurst defense has only allowed one goal in the last 90 minutes of play.

C.W. Post: The Pioneers lost their only game of the week, falling 8-1 to Mercyhurst College. Rob Renetta scored the only C.W. Post goal, while Dan Sciulla made 12 saves in goal. The Pioneers will remain on the road, taking on Molloy College on April 19 at 1 p.m.

Adelphi: Adelphi is currently 5-4 overall, but could easily be 7-2, having lost their last two games by a combined two goals. Sophomore Devin Schneiderbauer faced 49 shots in Adelphi's 12-11 loss to #1 NYIT. He made 17 saves in his 60 minutes in goal, including three in the fourth to keep the Panthers close. Schneiderbauer also picked up five groundballs. Up next for Adelphi is Dowling College on Saturday, April 19.

Molloy: The Lions dropped their only game this week to Dowling. Jeffrey Flandina had two goals and an assist during the loss, while Kevin Meekins added two goals. Keith Galante notched a goal and two assists. Rob Humann made nine saves during the 10-7 loss.
