Dowling's Rubisch Earns NLL Insider JOTY/Defender of the Year Honors

Oakdale, NY- After earning the Ontario
Lacrosse Association's (OLA) Most Outstanding Defender award for
his exceptional play with the Brampton Excelsiors as well as making
the OLA All-Star First Team, Kyle Rubisch of the Dowling Men's
Lacrosse team has two more honors to add to his resume.
Rubisch was recently named the NLL Insider JOTY
Defender of the Year and was named to the All-Canadian First
Team.
As team captain for the Excelsiors, Rubisch had a
standout 2009 campaign in which he scored 7 goals in 22 games
played and tallying 8 assists and 11 loose balls while leading
arguably the league's leading defensive team.
Rubisch helped his team reach the Minto Cup Final
where they would fall to Orangeville in a best of three contest
this August.
Kyle brought his intensity to the field in 2009
for Dowling as well, leading his team to a 7-6 mark while earning
USILA All-American Second team honors as well as ECC All-Conference
First Team honors. Rubisch led the Golden
Lions with 23 caused turnovers last season while tallying 48
groundballs.
