Player of the Week

Alex Grubin, Concordia (So., Belgrade, Serbia  / Branko Radicevic) - Played at #1 singles and #1 doubles against Adelphi in the only match for the Clippers this week. He defeated Tomasz Walczak at #1 singles 6-0, 6-1 and teamed with Nik Boerger at #1 doubles to win 8-4.

Rookie of the Week

Fabio Minami, Queens (Fr., Sao Bernardo de Campo, Brazil / Fabio Minami) - Continued his strong play with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #2 singles against 28th ranked Kutztown. He combined with David Burstein to win at #2 doubles, 8-2.

ECC Notebook

ECC: In the most recent ITA Division II poll (3/11), Concordia was ranked No. 12 and Mercy was ranked No. 29 ... In the most recent East regional poll (3/11), Concordia was No. 1, Mercy was No. 3, Dowling was No. 6, and Queens was No. 8.

Concordia: The Clippers defeated Adelphi 9-0 in their only contest this past week. Sophomore Alex Grubin, who is ranked #1 in singles play in NCAA Division II, defeated Tomasz Walczak 6-0, 6-1 at #1 singles and teamed with sophomore Nik Boerger to win 8-4 over Walczak and Alex Molotsky at #1 doubles. Senior Vito Galatioto picked-up his third win of the season in a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Leonard Bruno. Concordia will host Mercy College on Wednesday and will travel to St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday. The Clippers will finish the week on Sunday in Massachusetts against Amherst and Brandeis.

Mercy: The Mavericks, currently ranked No. 29 in the nation, played four times last week.  They first traveled to Florida where they took on some of the top programs in the country. On the trip, Mercy fell 9-0 to No. 14 Florida Southern, 6-3 to No. 9 Rollins, and 9-0 at defending national champion Lynn, currently ranked No. 3.  Mercy returned north to host Dowling on Saturday and posted a 5-0 win. The Mavericks took all three doubles matches and closed it with wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles by Timon Prosper and Christian Cheque, respectively.  They play twice this week, heading to No. 12 Concordia on Wednesday and Adelphi on Saturday.

Queens: The Knights defeated 28th ranked Kutztown, 6-3, in Pennsylvania on March 29th. QC lost two of three doubles matches but rebounded to take four of the six singles match-ups. Fabio Minami continued his strong play with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #2 singles while his doubles partner, David Burstein, picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory at third singles. The two also combined to win at second doubles, 8-2.  Taylor Crabill, Robby Scheuing and Ariel Nassim also were winners in singles for QC.
