Pulido and Pinto Headline ECC Men's Tennis All-Conference Awards

Central Islip, N.Y. - For the second consecutive season, New York Institute of Technology's Julio Pulido (Caceres, Spain) has been named the East Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Year, as voted on by the league’s coaches.  Diego Pinto (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) of University of the District of Columbia has been selected as the conference's Rookie of the Year.

Pulido earns the coaches' vote as the top player in the conference for the second straight season. Currently the No. 3 ranked singles player in the East Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), Pulido holds an 18-3 record on the season, which includes a perfect 6-0 mark in ECC play at No. 1 singles.  His wins include victories over nationally ranked opponents Jui Mao of Concordia, Robin Marchione of Rollins, and Egor Panyuskin of St. Leo. Pulido also partnered with fellow First Team All-Conference pick, Tomas Lieb, to form a dominant doubles pair.  The duo finished the regular season with a 16-1 mark, all at the No. 1 flight, and had an unblemished 6-0 mark in ECC play.

Pinto had a standout freshman campaign in the nation's capital. Going in to the conference tournament, Pinto boasts a 14-4 singles record on the season. He was a undefeated in ECC play, going 1-0 at the No. 3 flight and 5-0 at the No. 4 flight. He also put together a 9-7 mark in doubles action on the year.

Queens College head coach, Somadi Druker, has been selected as the Coach of the Year by her peers.  Druker guided her squad to an 5-1 mark in conference play to clinch the No. 2 seed in the upcoming ECC Men's Tennis Championship. Under Druker's guidance, the Knights also have a 12-3 overall record and were ranked No. 4 in the latest NCAA Division II East Region ranking.
