Central Islip, NY -- The Pioneers of LIU/C.W. Post are the top seed for the upcoming ECC Softball Championships, presented by Baden.
The Pioneers earned the ECC regular season title by virtue of an 18-2 record and enter the tournament 41-14 overall, ranked 11th in the most recent NFCA/Division II national poll. C.W. Post will be seeking its seventh tournament title overall and first since 2006.
Adelphi University will be the No. 2 seed, after posting a 17-3 ECC mark, good for second place in the league standings. The Panthers are 37-17 overall.
The remainder of the six-team tournament includes No. 3 University of New Haven, No. 4 NYIT, No. 5 University of Bridgeport, and No. 6 seed and defending tournament champion Dowling College.
Tournament action begins with single games Wednesday and shifts
to the Dowling College Brookhaven campus for Thursday, Friday and
Saturday action. A tournament champion will be crowned
Saturday.
Daily admission prices for the tournament at Dowling
are $5 for adults, $2 for children and seniors. ECC students with a
valid ID are admitted free.
Also, pets are not allowed inside the Dowling softball
complex.
