Molloy and Dowling Listed in NFCA Preseason National Rankings

Starksville, Miss.  - East Coast Conference members Molloy and Dowling have been listed in the 2011 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Preseason National Poll. Molloy starts the year in the No. 12 spot, while Dowling comes in at No. 24.

Last season Molloy earned their first ever NCAA East Region Championship and trip to the College World Series, finishing with a 43-21 record.  The Lions battled back from the brink of elimination in a best of three series against New Haven in the Super Regional to capture the East Region crown.

Dowling, which finished last season with a 44-17 record, is the second ECC school in the poll. The Golden Lions were crowned ECC Champions after shutting out Molloy twice on the final day of the ECC Championship. Their season came to an end in the championship of the NCAA East Regional, as Molloy got revenge against the Golden Lions.

Both Molloy and Dowling return much of the same teams that advanced deep into NCAA play in 2010. Molloy lost four seniors from their World Series squad, while Dowling lost only two.

2010 National Runner-Up Valdosta State takes home the top spot in the poll, while 2010 National Champion, Hawaii Pacific, comes in at the No. 3 spot.
