The East Coast Conference announced the 2011-2012 Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, as well as the Scholar-Athletes of the Year for all of its sponsored sports at the ECC Awards Dinner on May 23.

Molloy Walks Off in Sub-Regional Final Versus Domincan
Down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh and down to the last strike of the ball game, Molloy centerfielder Jeana Frey (Island Park, N.Y.) stayed alive long enough to be able to connect for a walk-off single to left field and win the game, and NCAA Division II East 2 Sub-Region over Dominican College, 4-3.

Sophomore shortstop Nicole Hagenah of C.W. Post has been named the 2012 East Coast Conference Softball Player of the Year as voted on by the league’s coaches. Junior pitcher Kelley Jansen of Molloy was named the Pitcher of the Year, while freshman catcher Alyson Dzierzynski from C.W. Post captured the Rookie of the Year honor.

Mercy College senior shortstop/outfielder Jenna Ausiello (Petaluma, Calif.), fresh off an outstanding season with the Mavericks, has signed a contract to play professional softball in Hamburg, Germany for the ETV Hamburg Knights.
