SAN ANGELO, Texas -- University of New Haven junior forward
Selina Moylan has been selected Daktronics Inc. Women's Soccer
Division II Second Team All-America, it was announced today.
Moylan earns the Second Team All-America honor after being named
Daktronics Inc. Northeast Region Player of the Year and First Team
All-Northeast Region earlier this month.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and
conferences selected the three Daktronics All-America teams. The
process begins at the regional level with first team all-region
picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the second year
Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II women’s soccer
All-America and all-region teams. A total of 33 student-athletes
representing 26 different institutions filled out the three
teams.
Moylan's awards come on the heels of winning the 2007 East Coast
Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year award. Last
season, she was a First Team All-Region and Third Team All-America
pick in the NSCAA/adidas coaches' voting.
Moylan (County Clare, Ireland) tallied a point in 11 of 20 matches
this season and had multiple points in nine matches. She was second
in the ECC in both points (42) and goals (17), and tied for fourth
with eight assists. Four of her goals were game-winners.
In the most recent NCAA statistics (thorugh 11/25/07), Selina
ranked 17th nationally in points per game, 22nd in goals per game
and 73rd in assists per game. She had a career-best 9 points (4
goals, 1 assist) in just one half at STAC, and had seven points on
two other occasions. Moylan scored multiple points in 7 of 9 league
matches.
Moylan helped lead UNH to 12 wins this season, the fourth year in
a row that the team has won 11 or more matches.
