UB and Dowling Earn NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Award

Central Islip, NY -The University of Bridgeport and Dowling College women's soccer teams have earned the 2008 NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Bronze Medal for their exceptional conduct on the field during the 2008 season.  The two programs join an elite list of only twelve Division II teams selected to receive an Ethics/Sportsmanship award.

Under the direction of head coach Magnus Nilerud, the Purple Knights finished second in the conference this season and earned their second consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament.  They advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 by defeating Merrimack and conference foe C.W. Post, both by a score of 1-0.  Bridgeport closed out the season with a 3-1 loss to St. Rose to finish with an 18-5-1 overall record.

Kerri McCabe guided her team to #4 conference finish and secured her second straight conference tournament appearance.  The Golden Lions fell to the eventual ECC Champion C.W. Post team to end their season with a 10-6-3 overall record.
