Surprise, Ariz. – The No. 29 Queens College women's tennis team fell to No. 7 Lynn University, 5-1, in the NCAA Championship round of 16 match from Surprise, Arizona, on Wednesday. Yevgeniya (Jenna) Plevako and Andrea Samson combined to win in doubles.
Lynn took two-out-of-three doubles matches, with Queens prevailing at second doubles. Plevako and Samson won their match, 9-7. The first flight pairing of Sumeera Kamil and Angelika Sobiecka lost 8-4, and the third grouping of Cami Abdallah and Aylin Mehter fell, 8-5.
In singles play, No. 32 Plevako lost to No. 28 Rosalie Willig in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Kamil fell by that same score. Samson won four games in each of her sets, but was defeated, 6-4 and 6-4. The other three matches were unfinished, but Sobiecka and Abdallah each won a set in theirs.
The Queens College women's tennis team finished the 2014-15 season with an overall mark of 17-5. They advanced to the NCAA round of 16 for the fifth time in the past six seasons.
