Central Islip, N.Y. - On Wednesday afternoon, the East Coast Conference announced the recipients of its Academic Team of Excellence Awards for the 2015-16 academic year.

The ECC Academic Team of Excellence Awards are presented to the team with the highest cumulative grade point average in their respective sport. Molloy College, which set a record with nine teams honored, earned the most selections for the third straight year. The University of Bridgeport was runner-up with three teams winning an award.
"Congratulations to all of the programs that have been recognized as our ECC Academic Teams of Excellence," said ECC Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff. "Of special note is the outstanding job that Molloy did this year with nine teams being honored. Each year we continue to be so impressed by the work put in by our student-athletes who are committed to excelling in all parts of their lives. We are happy to be able to provide a little bit more recognition for those efforts."

For the third straight year, 10 teams repeated as winners of the award. Four of the ten teams have now been honored in all four seasons of the award's existence. Teams winning the award for the fourth straight season include Bridgeport softball and volleyball, LIU Post men's soccer, and Molloy baseball.
