St. Louis – Andrew Sischo of Daemen was named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Division II National Players of the Week for the week ending November 10.
Sischo, a junior center was named MVP of the ECC-CACC Challenge last weekend after averaging 32.5 points, 18.0 rebounds and 4.5 blocks in Daemen's victories over Felician and Nyack. Sischo has started the season with four consecutive double-doubles, as the Wildcats split their games at the Small College Basketball National Hall of Fame Classic before posting a pair of victories in the ECC-CACC Challenge to improve to 3-1 to start the season.
Sischo went for 24 points and 15 rebounds in a season-opening defeat to No. 1-ranked Northwest Missouri State, and he registered 11 points and 12 rebounds in a 68-64 win over Missouri Western. He led the Wildcats to a 95-80 win over Felician with 31 points, 19 rebounds, and 5 blocks, and notched another 30-point game in an 80-74 win over Nyack with a season-high 34 points with 17 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Sischo, a native of Guilderland, N.Y., is averaging 25.0 points, 15.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.8 blocks per game through the season's first four games.
