Three ECC Student-Athletes to Compete in NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship

Indianapolis - Three student-athletes from the East Coast Conference have been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The event will take place from May 25-27 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Malcolm Shaw of Roberts Wesleyan is the lone participant on the men's side. Shaw is making his second straight NCAA appearance in the javelin, finishing last year in 15th place. The ECC Champion in the event each of the past three years, Shaw is seeded 14th in the event with a best throw of 64.56 meters on the year, accomplished at the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship meet.

Shaw will be joined in Bradenton by fellow Roberts Wesleyan student-athlete, Chelsea Hayward. Like Shaw, Hayward will compete in her second straight NCAA Outdoor Championship meet. This is also the fourth NCAA Championship of her career after also competing in the Indoor Championship each of the past two years. Hayward is slated to take part in both the 100m and 200m dash events. She is seeded 18th in the 100m event with a time of 11.73 and 10th in the 200m dash with a time of 23.84. Also like Shaw, she ran both her qualifying times at the NCCAA National Championship. Hayward is undefeated in both events during this year's outdoor season.

The third ECC student-athlete competing will be Daemen's Mackenzie Donahue. Donahue will run in the 10,000m event. Donahue is seeded 15th with a best time of 35:35.11, which she ran at the Golden Eagle Friday Night Invite in April. She also was the champion of the event at the ECC Championship in a meet-record time of 38:31.11. Donahue is making her second NCAA Championship appearance, after earning a nod at this year's Indoor Championship, as well.
