ECC Adds Lincoln Memorial University as Women's Bowling Associate Member

Central Islip, N.Y. - East Coast Conference Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff, announced on Tuesday afternoon that Lincoln Memorial University will join the conference as an associate member in the sport of women's bowling in the Fall of 2016. Located in Harrogate, Tenn., Lincoln Memorial's women's bowling team will compete in their inaugural season in 2016-17.

"We are very pleased to welcome Lincoln Memorial University to our NCAA Division II East Coast Conference Women's Bowling group for the 2017 season and championship," said Dranoff.  "It is exciting to see the growth of this sport and are happy that we can serve as the sponsoring conference."

The addition of Lincoln Memorial brings the number of ECC women's bowling members to eight. The Lady Railsplitters will join LIU Post, who announced the addition of women's bowling as a varsity spot in March, as newcomers to the league. They will compete against the conference's original members, Adelphi University, Daemen College, Felician University, Franklin Pierce University, Kutztown University, and Molloy College.

The ECC announced the addition of women's bowling in the summer of 2015. The first-ever ECC Women's Bowling Championship was held in March of 2016, with Adelphi being crowned the league's inaugural champion.
